By completing your registration, you will be acknowledging that all registered parties are 18 years or older, are legally competent to make the agreement, and have read and understand the terms. You will also be agreeing to comply with all the rules and regulations set forth with regard to the Activity, and you agree that all issues of civil liability shall be determined in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws. Open Studio for Enrolled Students

Students MUST have an active registration in a course in glass, jewelry, enamels, or ceramics in order to register for Open Studio. Students must register for Open Studio before attending.

Use of any or all of the posted hours in the appropriate studio for self-directed practice time.

Students may initiate or complete work within the scope of the class in which they are currently registered. Hours are self-tracked by signing in and out of each period you attend, and each student may use as few or as many hours, during scheduled times, for the duration of the session. The Open Studio session expires with each course session. Non-matriculating students may use the first week of the following session to complete work during Open Studio.

Metals Studios students must have an assigned safety monitor during all Open Studio periods.

Studio Use

Studio use is permitted by enrolled students only. Guests, family members, and non-registrants are not permitted to use studio equipment, materials, or supplies. Periodically the Crafts Center will have Open Houses that allow public access to studios and equipment with proper supervision and at the Crafts Center’s discretion. A student may not use the studios to conduct lessons or instruct non-registered students.

Equipment Safety

The Crafts Center reserves the right to restrict a student’s access to equipment at any time it deems the use of such equipment unsafe.

Age Restrictions for Classes

Adult classes and workshops are generally restricted to students 18 years and older. Youth classes and workshops are generally restricted to students 6 to 17 years of age, and each offering is designated for a specific age group. Our goal, first and foremost, is to provide the most comfortable learning environment for all of our students. However, we do make exceptions to this age-cut policy.

To inquire about an exception, please email wccregistration@worcester.edu with your inquiry, which will need to be approved by the appropriate Department Head and instructor before enrollment is permitted. When exceptions are granted, a waiver form will be emailed to the guardian. In most cases of youth participation in adult offerings, we also encourage parents/guardians to register alongside their young student or to attend as a supervising non-participant.

Inclement Weather Policy

Check the Announcement box at the top of most pages.

The Worcester Center for Crafts generally follows the Worcester State University (WSU) inclement weather policy relative to building closings and class cancellations. Delayed openings and cancellation announcements will be made on the Craft Center’s Facebook page and our website.

The Worcester Center for Crafts schedules make-up classes when possible for sequential classes. Students will be contacted via email from wccregistration@worcester.edu regarding cancellations of their courses.

Evening and Weekend courses: There may be instances where the weather is expected to clear early enough in the day for an evening or weekend course to run as originally scheduled. The offices will make an assessment of the weather conditions, and students will be notified by 2pm via email if a closure will continue through the evening or if the class will run as scheduled.

Please be sure to check the Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.

Online courses: It is anticipated that all courses being offered online will run as scheduled, even in the event that the Worcester Center for Crafts is closed due to inclement weather. Unless you are informed otherwise by your instructor or by the Registration Office.
